aden + anais burpy bib Review + GIVEAWAY!

When I was recently contacted about doing a review for aden + anais I was thrilled because what I saw was CUTE and you can never have enough cute, especially when you have a brand new little boy and not so many little boy things. Honestly, though, I had never heard of them so I wasn’t at all aware of what I was about to receive.
Between choosing the little man burpy bibs (as shown above) and getting my package in the post I started thinking about how Jasper doesn’t actually eat. I started to worry about what exactly I was going to do for my review and wondered if I should have chosen the baby cakes burpy bibs for Kahlei, but I simply didn’t think about it at the time as Kahlei – at 2 years old – no longer wears bib, in fact she hasn’t since before she turned one. Not because she doesn’t make a mess eating, she does; she’s the messiest eater I have ever seen, but because putting a bib on her just meant I would have to wash it PLUS whatever she was wearing at the time.
When the bibs arrived, however, I knew they were perfect. The thick, soft yet light weight 100% cotton muslin bib is lovely on the skin, making it perfect for baby, not at all like normal bibs which can be rough and uncomfortable.
The thing I found ingenious, however, was the shape. Not only does the design mean bub is well covered when eating, it’s also perfect for popping over your shoulder when burping him and give you maximum protection for wayward spews. With Jasper’s recent diagnosis of reflux and his sudden inset of spitting up, this has been wonderful. Because, honestly, after 3 and a half years of use our spew rags (plain cloth nappies) are thin, scratchy and not-so-attractive!
I now have one on hand all the time for feeding and burping. I’ve even stopped using my wrap to cover myself while feeding and simply use the unique shape to cover myself which leaves Jasper completely uncovered and means I don’t have any length of unmanageable wrap to contend with. You know, that bit that gets caught without you realising and pulls the whole thing off or gets lifted by the wind exposing you to the world…

Of course a bib review wouldn’t be complete without putting it to the ultimate test. The Kahlei test. I wish I’d had one of these when she was younger. The simply fact that when it is fastened there isn’t that huge gap of normal bibs, but wasn’t a ‘smock’ which allowed food to make it’s way everywhere anyway won me over instantly. Kahlei didn’t pull at it as it wasn’t uncomfortable on her and her top stayed clean.
The only way they could make it better, in Kahlei’s case, would to make it reach her toes as she did manage to get a little food on her pants (which isn’t a surprise at all).
I will be making these a top ‘baby shower’ gift!!
