~ Pay it Forward ~

I have happened upon many posts about Pay It Forward: 2011, each time I have thought what a lovely idea it is and how it’s a great way to start the new year before I go on my way quietly, NOT leaving a comment but hoping I might see some of the gifts received posted on blogs later in the year. A part of me briefly wanted to comment once or twice until I thought about it a little more and started asking myself ‘what would I send?’ which quickly had me freaking out and moving on.

So, this morning when I found Cate of Keep Cate Busy had posted a Pay It Forward post I smiled at the screen before clicking away because ‘WHAT could I possibly send?’ and to echo Cate’s worries ‘what if nobody responds?’. You might not be able to see me here, typing away but I was pretty sure if I posted this and got no reply that you would all be able to feel my immense embarrassment radiating out at you upon visiting my site.

I went back to doing what I do, the TV on in the background doing it’s continuous loop of the utter devastation of the Queensland floods. Vision upon terrible vision of ruined lives. Reports of people missing. Loss of homes, businesses and lives. Stories of self-sacrifice. A 13 year old insisting his 10 year old brother be saved first only to be swept away by the flood waters… And that was when I decided to join in.

I went back to Cate’s blog, left my comment and immediately had ‘The buyer’s remorse’ but then I decided that with all that has gone on in the past week, something like this is just what I need. Maybe it’s just what YOU need too? *Deep Breath* Here goes:

“I promise something handmade to the FIRST 5 people who leave a comment here.
However, to be eligible, you must repost this message, offering something handmade to 5 other people. The rules are that it must be handmade by you, and it must be sent to your 5 giftees sometime in 2011. Ready, set, GO!”

I still have no idea what I am going to give, all I know is that it will be lovingly created and sent.

Once you’ve commented and reposted your own Pay It Forward pop back here and post the link in my comments and if you miss out (I am now telling myself you will all be beating a path to my door, or at least my comment box. Of course you will) be sure to come back and click thru to the posts of my giftees.

Please join me ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. While I have you here please donate to the Premierโ€™s Disaster Relief Appeal and help those suffering in QLD

  1. These are my exact same thoughts, but please don't count me as number one. I don't think I could make anything at all for someone, I would have to buy it and take the tags off!

Cant wait to see what you end up with and making.

  2. I think this is a fabulous idea Becky, and if you're not scared, then neither am I (well, maybe a little bit LOl)!!!

  3. I'm so proud of you! (And I'm Cate's number five, so I can't possibly do 10 things!!) But I was reading your post and thinking pretty much 100% of your words apply to me. I think my post will pretty much be reworded what you just said. And my head is going nuts about what the hell I'm going to make already (but at least we have all year to do it… buying some time right there)!! xx

  4. It sounds like a wonderful idea – I don't even know if 5 people visit my blog yet so I probably can't participate yet ๐Ÿ™‚ that embarrassment factor!
Good luck in making something special xx

  5. Good for you, Becky. I am participating at MultipleMum's (so please don't include me in your post) but I wanted to say 'yay'!! x

  6. I WISH (right now) I could buy something and take the tags off, Claire, but I know I have a year to think up something…. :S
Thank you Pene. THANK YOU ๐Ÿ™‚ So excited you've joined me!
Are you SURE Kymmie that you can't do 10. Surely ten would be a synch ๐Ÿ˜‰ hehe
If you change you're mind, NewMumma, I still have 4 places to fill, and I would love to have you aboard.
Maxabella, ditto what I said to Kymmie, ten handmade things is NOTHING lol

  7. Too much! I'm freaking out about five right now!! You will find your people, Beck. They will come. x

  8. Does that mean that I have to start blogging proper, instead of only commenting? I'm scared of blogging – scared of letting people know me too well.

But I like this, and I'd like to be a part of this.

I'll send you my link as soon as I have it up…

  9. It's okay, Maxabella, I was only joking ๐Ÿ™‚ I sure hope they come. I don't have enough blogging family members to 'encourage' to join me ๐Ÿ˜‰
On that note, thank you Mummy. I love you xo

  10. Hi Becky, I honestly don't recall how I came to your blog (maybe Maxabella's linky?) but I'd love to participate in the Pay It Forward. (I've had those same feelings of buyer's remorse and have just refreshed this post after two days over sitting on it.)

    So, without further ado: http://anitasviews.blogspot.com/2011/01/pay-it-forward-2011.html

Oh my, what am I getting myself into?! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  11. after a day or 2 of will I or won't I …. count me in Becky ๐Ÿ™‚
I will be back a bit later today (or maybe tomorrow) with a link once I have posted it on my blog

I am actually looking forward to it ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Thank you Anita and Philippa ๐Ÿ™‚ So happy to have you guys aboard!!
