It’s ALL About Me: My Month

You may remember I gifted myself A Month for my birthday at the start of June. It was a month of discovery.

Being mindful of myself, allowing myself to explore my CREATIVITY, giving myself permission to accept mistakes and move on WITHOUT GUILT and focusing on what I want to PURSUE really opened my eyes.

It wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be when I started out.

I wondered, in the beginning, if I would have to give up somewhere part-way through. I wondered if my focus would take too much from my children, husband and all who rely on me to put them first.

Instead, I discovered a calmer way to live and the more time I gave myself the more time I had for everyone else, not only did I have more time to do more with those I love I was in the moment more. I wasn’t worried about all the other things I needed to do (the house is a serious testament to that right now) and I just let things evolve.

There were some things I intended to focus on which didn’t get a look in with everything else that was going on; namely the ‘concentrating on my health‘ part. So, while I initially intended this month to be for me to get things together I have realised it’s a longer process. There are more steps I need to take and there is more time I need to devote to certain aspects of life.

One thing is certain, there’s a balance which needs to be struck here.

I am still struggling to find ‘me’ time, but I think I am taking the right steps. Striking a life-family-work balance and getting organised is on the top of my priority list right now.

One of the best things to come from the Month Just for Me was having started the month with goals and a plan kept me centered and kept those goals in the fore of my mind. I think I am going to start each month knowing what I want from it.
Do you guys plan your month’s focus before a new month starts? If so, how does it help you?

  1. What a fabulous idea Becky. Sound like it worked out well. Might have to try something like that myself 🙂

    • You really should, Caz. It’s been so good!

  2. I feel similarly Becky. I have just started #myjuly in order to address the imbalance as well because I’ve been struggling lately as well. These photos are simply beautiful x

    • I’ve just read your My July post (for some reason I couldn’t comment). Love it. I am sure it will be an amazing month for you and OMG BlogHer!! Yay for you.
I so can’t wait to read all about your adventures x

  3. I think it really helps to have clear goals – both in my life and in my blogging. I have been getting too bogged down in the noise of the everyday lately and haven’t been taking the time to enjoy the special things that my goals allow me to enjoy – like craft and reading.
Am going to take some time these holidays to get my priorities back in order 🙂
So glad that you’ve had such a valuable month all about lovely Becky!!

    • It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life. I am glad you’re doing to take the time in these holidays. Life seems so much easier when you’re doing things you enjoy every once in a while..

  4. I am so slack at keeping things going I barely made it to day 10 of the photo challenge.

A whole month for me and I may even get bored with myself!

  5. I spose I’m a kind of fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl.

  6. All my plans seem to go awry… but when I wing it, it seems to work. So I’m planning to be more spontaneous 😛

    • I am a little bit of a contradiction. I would like to do more spontaneous things while having monthly goals… We’ll see how that goes 😉
