Money Matters

This post was going to be about my goals for July. It was going to be mostly about my fitness plans and briefly touch on my planned attendance to this month’s Blogger Brunch and Nuffnang’s Blogopolis.

That was before I went shopping this morning with a whole $28 to spend. $28 to feed and keep 7 people. For a fortnight. Twenty eight dollars. How does that even happen?

I am not looking forward to the end of this week, not to mention the end of this fortnight, especially with a hungry teen home on holidays. We’ve gone through a whole loaf of bread today alone.

I have been seeking sponsorship to cover the cost of traveling to and staying in Melbourne with my mum and the three Munchies but I was of the opinion that I would go whether or not I secured sponsorship. I figured the benefits to this blog, my new review blog and myself would far out weigh the monetary ‘loss’. Now, that lovely badge on my side bar seems to be in jeopardy. Either that or we don’t eat.

Food’s not important, right?

And so, the search for a sponsor has ramped up because I believe I should be there. Because James believes I deserve to be there. Because my mum is so looking forward to getting away with us. Plus, I really want to go. For all these reasons and more, I have decided to write openly here about my search.

I have compiled a Sponsorship Package which includes promotion on both blogs before, during and after both events which I have been sending out.

I am so very new at this, I feel I may be approaching the wrong types of businesses.  Those I do get interest from are lovely but are not quite established enough and not yet in a position to sponsor. I have made some amazing contacts. I just don’t know which direction to take from here.

What I do know is that I have a lot to offer. Blogging is my passion, it’s my little piece of sanity, the place I come to keep me centered. It’s where I’ve made new friends, learned new things and shared my inner most thoughts and struggles. It’s where I can be me without having to deal with the restrictions being me places on my social life.

I am working on taking this blog and Becky and James Do Reviews onwards and upwards. I am hoping there’s someone who wants to be a part of that who thinks it’s worth investing in me and what I have to offer.

If that’s you, then please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you would like to know more about what I am offering in my Sponsorship Package let me know and I can send it on. I am open to discussing different options with anyone who is interested.

  4. Good luck, I wish I could help you in some way, how much do you charge for advertising here on your blog??

    • Hi Courtney, I went to email you and got distracted looking at your MadeIt store! You make some gorgeous things!

  5. PLEASE tell us how you feed 7 people on $28?! I am so depressed after reading your post – I want to send you money! Can you please give us some idea of the cost of sponsorship, or even your advertising rates? Couldn’t find this info anywhere. Could help someone make a decision in your favour very quickly.

    • Kay, I don’t feel 7 people on $28 very well.
Do you have an email address I can use to contact you at all?

  6. I hope you find someone fabulous to sponsor you! You so deserve to go 🙂
    Good luck!

    • Thank you Kellie 🙂

  7. Best of luck, Becky. Keeping my fingers crossed for you

    • Thanks. I am sure all these people crossing their fingers for me should help out; even if it’s just to make me feel so supported x

  8. Good luck Becky. (Goodness – how do you feed a family on so little!!!) I sent my first letter off today seeking sponsorship too. I’ve decided you don’t get if you don’t ask and really the worse that can happen is they say no. Be great to see you again at the end of the month. We can compare notes on how we went 🙂 Now – again how do you feed a family on $28 – you have me worried. Hope all will be okay 🙂

    • Good luck with your sponsorship request! I hope it comes through for you. It’s such a nerve wracking thing, isn’t it?
I so hope we can catch up and CHAT this time around!
I am about to write about post about how to NOT shop for 7 people with $28 which might help? hehe.

  9. Becky, I wish you all the best. Wishing I was in a position to help you out. My Fingers and toes are crossed for you Xx

  10. $28 for a fortnight, that’s some serious cutting back. Food is always going to be more important than blogging, one of life’s essentials. Maybe the blog will need to wait for a while 🙁 Don’t put yourself under too much stress xxx
