Join me in the Kids Need 3 Challenge and WIN a Sports Pack

#KidsNeed3Challenge, Calcium, Calcium intake and Children,

Starting today, we are taking part in the two week Kids Need 3 Challenge currently being run by Dairy Australia in a bid to encourage parents to make sure their children are getting the recommended daily 3 serves of dairy in order to get the calcium they need for healthy teeth and bones.The challenge is also to highlight just how easy it is to incorporate enough dairy into a child’s diet;

All it takes is 3 serves of dairy every day in any combination. A serve is:

– 1 glass/small carton of plain/flavoured milk (250mL)
– 2 slices/sticks or 4 cubes of cheese (40g), or
– 1 small tub of yogurt (200g)

As someone who has had numerous issues due to weak teeth, this is particularly important to me. For years I didn’t smile because of a badly damaged tooth and the pain I’ve been through I would not wish on anyone. I want my children to be strong and healthy, with strong bones for all the playing, running, jumping, climbing, dancing and general day-to-day ‘kid’ stuff.

The timing of this is quite apt for us as we’re having major vegetable struggles with Ellie, after a girl at day care told her that they cut up your insides when you eat them. This has led to nightly struggles and even cases of Ellie vomiting her veggies back onto her plate. Which is exactly what I want to see as I am halfway through a mouthful of dinner.

Over the next two weeks, we will be paying special attention to the amount of dairy they each consume and, after each serve, I will give them a sticker to place on their Challenge Board.

Once we have confirmed that each extra entry has a completed board to accompany it, we will pick the most creative challenger to win a sports pack containing balls, a skipping rope and totem tennis.
