As they say; Practice Makes Perfect

I hope you’re not sick of zoo photos here as I took my own advice last week and took the kids to the zoo to wear them out. One of the reasons I personally love to go is the photographic practice it gives me. I can see the difference. Obviously, I’m not perfect, however I am getting so much better.

  1. That photo of the snow leopard is great! He is just looking right at you. I love the zoo.

    • Thanks Toushka, normally he’s asleep at the end of his enclosure so I was pretty pleased when he was posing for me!

  2. That second bottom one makes me smile – reminds me of my little tabby kitty πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Janet! That’s my favourite, too.

  3. You really can’t beat the big cats, these are great shots. πŸ™‚

    • So true, they’re the best. Thanks!

  4. Love the 1st pic & the last 2 pics the best. Looks like a great day out with the family. The giraffes and elephants are my favourites x

    • Thanks Lisa. Unfortunately, the baby giraffe has a bit of wire in front of his head making it a bit fuzzy but how cute is it?

  5. The Zoo is a great place to practise taking photos. So many willing subjects and all sorts of distances and light to play with. Love the leapard!

    • It is, isn’t it? I have literally thousands from the zoo but it’s such a great place to try things out.

  6. I want to come to the zoo with you guys!!!

    • YES! Do it! But, you just can’t show me up with your uber photographic skills, k?

  7. Fabulous photos.

    • Thank you Tamara

  8. Beautiful photos, I love those ones of the leopards. The zoo is a great place to practice πŸ™‚

  9. I adore big cats, they are just so cute and look cuddly but they are some deadly suckers for sure! Great pics x

    • They’re absolutely my favourite. so amazing when they’re up close.

  10. whoa!! up close and personal with zoo animals…. very cool shots

    • Thanks Yvette. I love being able to get close. I have my fingers crossed for some type of zoo-photography-something-or-other to be given to me for my birthday!

  11. Awesome photos, especially the snow leopard, normally they are very shy. What Zoo is this? It looks great.
    xx

    • Hi Mrs BC, thanks for the comment. This was the first time we’ve seen the Snow Leopard so ‘interactive’. Having it look straight at us was powerful. This is Mogo Zoo on the South Coast of NSW. I absolutely recommend you visit!
I wrote a review of the zoo in 2011 if you’d like to take a look http://reviews.beckyandjames.com/2011/07/02/mogo-zoo/
