Switching off for Wishes

Recently, I signed up to turn off my phone during the month of March in an attempt to raise money to help grant wishes for seriously ill children. As a mother, I look at these types of foundations and am so thankful they exist. I am blessed to not have any children which are terminally ill and that none of them have had any serious mishaps in their short lives but I know how invaluable a special experience can be when a child is going through a tough time and I know I would want this kind of opportunity to exist if I needed it.

There are so many amazing children going through such horrid things. I can’t fix them but I can do this.

I’ve been checking out the page of granted wishes and, I can’t keep from being teary at the joy of those little faces as they realise something so close to their heart.

My goal is to switch my phone off on weekends and evenings, for a total of 168 hours for the month, when we’re all together as a family. With no land line, I couldn’t come at having it off when James is at work or the kids at school. I have said I hope to raise $400 but, secretly, I hope to smash that.

If you would like to support my efforts and donate, please visit here. Every little bit helps.

Have you signed up to switch off?

  1. What a great cause! I have never heard of it before. Good luck. We have dodgy phone connection at the best of times so mine is rarely used to talk on anyway!

  2. Oh I’ve never heard of that organisation before. I rely on my phone for so much, although I tend to not use it as much at night.

Good luck with reaching your goal!

  3. Good on you for doing something for the kids xx
I hope you smash your target xx

  4. Good on you Becky. Great cause and a great thing to do for your family. I really feel for the families of seriously ill kids. Must be so awful 🙁
