To celebrate Bastille Day I was sent some ingredients to create something in Connie. I decided to make a delicious mushy sauce.

Ingredients
  1. 200g mushrooms
  2. 1 onion, peeled and quartered
  3. 2 garlic cloves
  4. 2tbsp butter
  5. 240ml cream
  6. 2 tsp mustard (I use Dijonaise)
  7. 1 - 2 tsp dried oregano
  8. 1 bay leaf (optional)
Instructions
  1. Place onion, garlic and mushrooms in the bowl with the ultrablade and mix at speed 11 for 10 seconds
  2. Replace ultrablade with the mixer and add all other ingredients (except bay leaf) and launch the sauce program
  3. (Optional) Thicken in sauce pan with cut up chicken or your steak with a bay leaf
  4. Remove bay leaf and serve
Notes
  1. If you want your mushrooms 'meatier' chop by hand to desired size and add in step two
  2. If you need to hide your mushrooms you may need to repeat step one until they're cut up small enough

  1. Oh Yummo! My hubby will want to try this sauce out for sure. We’ve celebrated Bastille Day with Quiche here at Chaos HQ. I’ll be writing about that one soon. πŸ™‚

    • Let me know how it goes if you do! I always feel anxious about people trying recipes I post even though we find them delicious!
I love quiche! Will pop over and see your post.

  2. Ha ha – ugly food is still good food. So true!

    • Thanks Malinda!

  3. MMM , yes ugly food tastes the best sometimes.

    • You’re so right, Trish!

  4. I’m actually not a fan of mushrooms but there are other ingredients there I wouldn’t have thought about putting in a sauce (the mustard and butter namely). I’ve always wanted to make a good Diane sauce but never quite worked out what it needs other than some garlic and worcester. I wonder if mustard would help?!

    • I’ve never been much of a mushroom fan either but lately I’m obsessed with the taste but I still hate the texture which is why I blitz mine up until they’re basically mush. If it looks like a mushroom I can’t eat it, even if I put it in there!
I agree, mustard was a surprise ingredient in the first mushy sauce I made but it does give it that little something. Let me know how it goes if you try that!

  5. I must admit, this sounds better than it looks, which is how most of approach to cooking ends up. Definitely going to give this a try. Although I don’t have a Tefal, so it will be old school cooking for me.

    • Ugly food is my forte πŸ˜‰ Let me know if you try it! Hopefully you love it as much as we do. I’ve done it old school too and it’s still easy and delish.

  6. My husband would love it if I made this, but I don’t like mushrooms. So I’m afraid he always misses out on mushroom dishes! I feel terrible now!

    • Haha, don’t feel bad. My hubby misses out on things because I don’t like them, too. And I miss out on things I like because he doesn’t like them (ribs) – I’m sure you miss out on something, too?

  7. Oh creamy mushroom sauce is our all time favorite dish to make, we sometimes put it on toast for an easy meal πŸ™‚

    Looks delicious!

    • That sounds like a good idea. I think I will try that next time I’ve had a full on day and don’t know what to make. Thanks Lisa!

  8. Yum! I love mushrooms. This looks really good.

    • Thanks Karin!
